Join Finnish production companies for a panel discussion and tasty breakfast. You will hear more about filming in Finland, where cold weather is not an obstacle, promises are kept, digitalization is world-class, 5G covers the whole country, and the infrastructure simply works.
Panelists include experts from experienced production companies: film director and screenwriter Mika Ronkainen, NTRNZ Media Ltd's founder & Executive Creative Director Teemu Hostikka, Executive producer and CEO Antti Kaarlela from Whatevergroup. Naida Valencia from Whatevergroup is moderating the event.
The event is organized by North Finland Film Commission and BusinessOulu in cooperation with Film in Finland.

Midsummer in Hollywood screening series showcases high-quality Finnish Films in Los Angeles on November 2-3, 2022, at Lumiere Cinema at Doheny & Wilshire (9036 Wilshire Blvd, 90211 Beverly Hills). Finland’s representative for this year’s Oscar Academy Awards, Girl Picture is a fresh and touching coming-of-age romantic drama directed by Alli Haapasalo.
Best friends Mimmi and Rönkkö have each other’s backs, always. They want to live adventurous lives loaded with experiences and passion. Emma, on the contrary, has given her whole life to figure skating. Nothing gets between her and success. But when the girls meet, life opens new paths, and they all rocket in new directions. Girl Picture is Sundance Audience Award winner in 2022 (World Cinema Dramatic Competition). It was also selected Best Feature Film at the LGBT+ Film Festival Poland and received the Best Narrative Feature Film and Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature at Outshine Film Festival, US.

Evi, Finland’s most experienced karaoke hostess, wants to hug her customers’ pain away. With thousands of bars and kilometers behind her, yet again she packs her equipment and travels through the northern landscapes of Finland. Toni, the shyest guy in the world, catches everyone’s eye on the stage. Kari is searching for love and sings in his empty karaoke car repair shop. Elina can hardly walk because of Parkinson’s, but punk songs make her dance. Laura sings because talking is too painful. Einari Paakkanen’s Karaoke Paradise is a story of how the Finns have found a unique way out of loneliness.

The Wait is a story about a woman undergoing an emotional battle between sense and passion. The universal themes of love, honesty and longing come to play on a secluded island in the Finnish archipelago isolated from the world afflicted by a pandemic.
Aku Louhimies’s The Wait is the first carbon-neutral production in Finland. The music is composed by Esa-Pekka Salonen, music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic (1992-2009).
The screening includes a Q&A with filmmakers Aku Louhimies, Inka Kallén & Andrei Alén.
