For the past five years Finland has grown its reputation for high-quality, original content coming out of this Nordic country. Finland has responded to the spike in demand for its content by producing a slew of new series. Six Finnish TV series in development are showcased during FOCUS on FINLAND event at MIPCOM 2022.

Selected Finnish Highlights
Estonia distributed by Beta and produced by Finnish Fisher King is the main Scandinavian highlight at MIPCOM this year. Based on true story of the sinking ship Estonia, the story is built around the investigation by Joint Accident Investigation Committee (JAIC), established by Sweden, Estonia, and Finland. Eight part series brings together great talents from these three countries such as Finnish director Juuso Syrjä (Bordertown, Helsinki Syndrome), award-winning Swedish director Måns Månsson (Snabba Cash, Chernobyl), as well as the Finnish cinematographer Jani-Petteri Passi (Chernobyl, Compartment No. 6).
Summer of Sorrow, distributed by Keshet International, produced by Rabbit films and written and directed by the multi-award-winning Jani Volanen. It is a 10-part drama telling a story of a missing person’s mystery. Summer of Sorrow was one of 10 shows selected for the 2022 MIPTV Drama Showcase, and it will premiere across Finland on Elisa from 16 October.
The World According to Comedians is a brand new TV-series format in production, where three famed female comedians Tumi Morake from South Africa, American Liza Treyger and Indian Aditi Mittal first took a road trip to Finland, the happiest country in the world, and now plan to present their stand-up gig at stage at the iconic New York City Comedy Festival on November 8, 2022. This unique docu-series commissioned by the Finnish National Broadcasting Company, YLE and produced by Filmbutik and Outpost Social oy is available for international distribution and format sales.
